From the convent to the kitchen, the dynamic duo of last years blockbuster movie, Doubt, have teamed up once again, this time exchanging their habits for aprons.

Meryl Streep and Amy Adams who made the Broadway show, Doubt, into such a huge box office hit have now turned their talents from the dark and dismal world of the convent to the comedic world of cooking as they both portray real life characters in the movie Julie & Julia.

Julia Child, played by Meryl Streep, is a well known TV chef who, after searching for something to occupy her self indulgent life in France, discovers her passion for the kitchen, and Julie Powell, played by the beautiful Amy Adams, who, many years later in a modern America, is a mere housewife with a low self esteem who views everyone else’s life as more meaningful than her own, discovers her ability to create her own blog based on following Child’s cookery course, with mainly disastrous results!

In Nora Ephron’s adaptation of the two separate memoirs of these two women, Child’s My Life in France, and her passion for cooking and Julia Powell’s, Julie & Julia blog based on how she followed Child’s cookery course to the letter, sees the lives of the women intertwine even though they are separated by an ocean and many decades.

As Child’s creates her TV meals and Powell attempts to emulate her success in her own kitchen in the USA, the story line becomes more and more hilarious as the women follow their passion with a relentless, unending determination, leaving culinary devastation in their wake.

The movie sees Stanley Tucci as the long suffering grand nephew of Julia Childs and Chris Messina as the equally challenged husband of Amy Adams, Eric Powell.

The movie opens August 7th 2009
