The epidemic of child adoptions has spread to the Madden/Richie household now and the pair are discussing the reality of adopting a baby from an under privileged family, possibly from Africa.

Nicole Richie, who already has her own biological daughter, Harlow, with partner, Joel Madden, has her own charity, The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation, and is seriously considering expanding her family by adopting, after meeting less fortunate families through the charity.

Nicole Kidman spent this evening in New York city at the premiere of her latest movie, Australia, which sees her starring alongside the ‘sexiest man in the world’, fellow Australian, Hugh Jackman. If Nicole Kidman had any thoughts of keeping either her age or her birthday a secret, the news was blown right out of the water at the Chicago Soldier Field Stadium on Saturday as husband, Keith Urban, asked the 50,000 strong crowd to join him in his rendition of Happy Birthday to Nicole.

The country singer, Urban, was performing at the stadium on Saturday and during his gig he honored Nicole’s special day with a spontaneous outburst of the birthday song.

New York’s worst fears were confirmed this week as the omni-legged ex wife of Paul McCartney, Heather Mills, slapped down $5 million on one of the glass boxes in Richard Meier’s 173 Perry Street, Manhattan!

After winning (although that suggests a fair fight and Mills made it anything but fair!) £24.3 million in her divorce settlement with McCartney earlier this year the tumbling loser of Dancing with the Stars, Mills, is using some of this money to move into an apartment in the same exclusive area as fashion designer Calvin Klein and actress Nicole Kidman. Watching David Beckham play football for the L.A. Galaxy side would make Scientology look riveting judging by the look on the spectator’s faces.

The world of movie and television was stunned today with the sad news that Isle of Wight born, Anthony Minghella had passed away after an operation at Charing Cross Hospital, London.

The Oscar winning film maker died of a hemorrhage at 5 a.m. Tuesday just a week after an operation to remove a growth from his neck.

Tributes poured in from people as diverse as movie star Jude Law, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the president of Botswana.
