The world of movie and television was stunned today with the sad news that Isle of Wight born, Anthony Minghella had passed away after an operation at Charing Cross Hospital, London.

The Oscar winning film maker died of a hemorrhage at 5 a.m. Tuesday just a week after an operation to remove a growth from his neck.

Tributes poured in from people as diverse as movie star Jude Law, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the president of Botswana.
