It seemed a bit, well, out of character, that Eddie Murphy should accept the role of The Riddler in the next Batman movie and now it seems that although the Sun newspaper in the UK reported the news, its just not true!

Murphy announced earlier this year that he was actually retiring from movie making, and not before time, with his latest offerings, Norbit and Meet Dave bombing at the box office, but if Murphy was to reconsider his retirement, a role alongside the Caped Crusader could just be the role to revitalize his flagging career.

With The Dark Knight having made box office records, and selling a staggering 13.5 million copies worldwide on Blu-Ray and DVD in its first week of release and with its star, Heath Ledger, who died in January 2008, having created a Joker to end all Jokers, the next Batman movie would require someone far more believable as The Riddler, than Murphy.

Up until these recent rumours involving Murphy it was widely expected that Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp would land the role of The Riddler.
