She’s American, in an Italian named musical, with songs from the pen of a group of Swedes, set in a lemon grove in Greece! But, putting all that international mish-mash aside, we’re all going to be there when the movie Mamma Mia hits the big screens in the UK and the USA this weekend. We’ll be witness to Meryl Streep doing the high splits and Pierce Brosnan competing for the love of his long lost daughter!
With the music of the popular Swedish 1970’s pop group ABBA and the Hollywood cast of a ’slutty’ Streep, a very ‘unBond’ Brosnan and a ‘clumsy’ Colin Firth, this movie is bound to have even the most reserved of us tapping our feet and maybe even bopping in the aisles!
With 30 muscle bound hunks in skimpy, tight Speedos and huge Technicolor flippers grooving away to Dancing Queen on a rickety Greek pier and Brosnan trying desperately hard to make us believe he can sing for his supper, this movie should be taken with as large a pinch of salt as is worldly possible to be enjoyed to the max!
