The revered Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, last night stood among publicity hungry celebrities with a look on his face that said it all, ‘the things I do for New York!’

Mingling with the likes of Caroline Kennedy, Victoria Beckham, Alicia Keys, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ricky Martin and Liam Neeson, Mr Bloomberg’s attendance was aptly rewarded with a donation to the City by 74 year old Armani, of $1million to a public schools fund.

Inside the innovative Emporio Armani building, which is housed in a glass cube, Mayor Bloomberg said, ‘arts education is “an essential component of a well-rounded curriculum,” and Armani’s gift will help insure all city students have a chance to experience it.

So an altogether boring evening paid off in the end for the only New York Mayor to have successfully overturned the city’s term-limits law to insure him another four years in office.
