With little left that can help the Dirty Dancing star, Patrick Swayze, he has now made the decision to stop the treatment he’s been receiving over the past few months for his stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Doctors have told 56 year old Swayze that there is nothing that can be done to cure his illness and all they can do is help keep him comfortable.

After checking himself into hospital recently with pneumonia symptoms, he was released on January 16^th 2009 having undergone treatment but with no promise of a full recovery.

The National Enquirer has reported that Swayze is growing weaker a friend explained, “His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He’s still losing weight and he’s very weak. There’s nothing more doctors can do for him. We are down to the wire and the goal now is to keep Patrick comfortable‘.

The Hollywood actor and his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi have confirmed that together they will write Swayze’s memoirs but so far no publisher has been named and there is no news on when the book will be released.

Throughout his illness, Swayze has not stopped work and with a book in the offing and the recent screening of his new show The Beast, it is hoped that Patrick will be around long enough to star in the next series and to make it to many book signings.
