Say Sex and the City to just about anyone in the developed world and chances are a vision of yellow cabs, the Empire State Building and some trendy bar serving pink cosmopolitans in Uptown Manhattan spring to mind.
So why would the movie be released in London, England, before being released in America? Isn’t that like premiering The Full Monty in Idaho instead of Manchester?
Since the HBO series began in June 1998 it has become synonymous with New York City and has been recognized as one of the highest-rated sitcoms, due to its realistic portrayal of the lifestyles and sexual behavior of many urban Americans, focusing on the love lives of four characters, Carrie Bradshaw, who’s shoes are filled by Sarah Jessica Parker, Samantha Jones, who’s bed is filled by Kim Cattrall, the very prissy Charlotte York played by Kristin Davis and Miranda Hobbes, the city lawyer who’s role is cynically played by Cynthia Nixon.
“Sex and the City: The Movie,” is due to be released on May 30, 2008 in the U.S. and on May 28, 2008 in the U.K.
