Following his meteoric shoot to fame in the 1980’s, when he worked for Jean Paul Gaultier before showing his first collection under his own label in 1988, Martin Margiela has constantly brought a breath of fresh air to the world of designer fashion, or has he?
We say, ‘or has he’ because we seldom see or hear from the designer who became the chief designer of Hermés and now has his own collection on the catwalk at Paris Fashion week.

With his models strutting the catwalk with their faces hidden by long wigs and silk stockings its clear to see (or not see) why the designer holds the belief that maintaining anonymity proves that clothes ‘are greater than the creator’.
 

Although Margiela’s fashions can be recreated with a plain white shirt and a pair of tights it’s highly unlikely that we will ever see someone as media hungry as Victoria Beckham following this fashion. Mores the pity!
