It’s the Kings’ birthday and he would have been 74 on January 8th had he lived beyond his 42 years.
Elvis Presley has been gone for more than 30 years now but that hasn’t stopped his adoring fans from celebrating the special day, year after year, after year, after year!
Born on January 8th 1935, the King is still the center of attention at the annual ceremony which is held at his home, Gracelands, in Memphis, Tennessee.
And tonight, live from that historic house, Elvis’s wife, Priscilla Presley spoke to CNN’s Larry King and showed off the home, the heirlooms and memorabilia that she had shared with Elvis as his wife.
The former Dallas star told Larry about how she had recently rescued two horses, Max and Bandit and how the country home had always been associated with horse where Elvis had maintained stables and riding pastures for horses at his longtime Memphis residence, and how she was carrying on the tradition.
As the mother of Elvis’s only child, Lisa Marie Presley, Priscilla led the hundreds of fans who had gathered at the mansion in singing, Happy Birthday to her husband. Following the sing-along and the reading of an proclamations, fans lined up for pieces of birthday cake handed out at Graceland’s sprawling souvenir shopping center.
