It was a special night in the life of actor Tom Hanks when at Manhattan’s Lincoln Center the 52 year old star of The Da Vinci Code was honored at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s annual gala tribute.

Hanks was honored by a star studded line up of movie related A Listers including Steven Spielberg, Sally Field, Charlize Theron, Julia Roberts and Ron Howard who all joined him at the dinner and awards ceremony.
With blockbusters such as Cast Away, Philadelphia, and Forrest Gump to his name, Tom remains one of the few Hollywood greats who’s reputation is impeccable, with a career spanning 30 years and a marriage of 20 years to wife Rita.

Director Howard, who worked with Hanks on 2006’s The Da Vinci Code and his latest movie due fro release on May 15th Angels & Demons, said of Hanks, “He’s driven and ambitious. He’s private. But he’s not a self-pitying guy. He takes the bad with the good.’
With this latest accolade, Tom joins such previous greats as Alfred Hitchcock, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep, but summing up the accomplished actor, Julia Roberts stated, “He’s the great quintessential actor. He does everything from the campy comedies like Bosom Buddies to Cast Away. Everyone asks what Tom is like. He’s what you want him to be.”
